Microsoft Showing up Its Final Cards by Teaming up with Cyanogen

A recent trend is taking on where different OS developers are coming up together so to deal with market position of a stronger rival. Microsoft has its share of cherry in the cake (Microsoft Windows Phone) while Cyanogen is busy, trying to earn a slice.

Cyanogen, a mod version of Android wants to take Android from Google. It doesn’t rely any of Google services or Play Store. The model is impacting significantly in chines markets with no Google Play for their Android devices.

The two companies have finally announced their partnership on Thursday, which will bring Microsoft’s apps preloaded on Cyanogen but with an option to remove them. Microsoft will be making custom versions of their productivity apps like Office, Skype, and Bing ET. Al., the way Microsoft has done it for Amazon’s Fire OS.

“Given the complexity of handset manufacturers, distribution methods, and carriers, there is more than one way MSFT apps can show up, Cyanogen is predicated on user choice with an open operating system that is bringing best in class products and services to consumers. MSFT apps will be surfaced contextually and will always be downloadable”, representative, Cyanogen Inc.
